Every effort has been made to ensure your safety at this meeting. Windows and doors will be opened (please dress in warm clothing). Minutes of the Parish Council Meeting held on 9 June 2021
in Sandon Parish Room at 7.30 p.m.

Mrs J Selby. There were no members of the public present.
21/38 Minutes
21/38.1 The Minutes of the meeting held on 19 May 2021 be signed by the Chairman.
21/39 Declarations of Interest
21.39.1 There were no declarations of interest.
21/40 Burston Pool
21.40. The Chairman welcomed Mr P Gammon, Stafford Borough Council to the meeting. Members had prepared several questions regarding the Pool to which Mr Gammon responded. Details of the questions and responses are appended to the Minutes. Mr Gammon requested details of any planned events around the Pool and asked that any low-level issues be referred to the bailiff that more serious issues be sent to him. He would be visiting the Pool with the Cabinet Member for the Environment, Councillor Jonathan Price in the coming weeks.
21.40.1 RESOLVED: To forward details of planned events at Burston Pool to Mr Gammon.
21.40.2 Pool Safety
The Clerk reported that she had received a quote from RoSPA who offered a consultancy service to local councils. A water safety visit/SUDS visit would cost £460 plus VAT plus £36 travel costs.
21.40.2.1 RESOLVED: To write to Robert Simpson regarding concerns regarding responsibility for pool safety at Burston Pool.
Mr Gammon left the meeting at 8.10 p.m.
The meeting was adjourned to take the County Councillor’s report and convened thereafter.
21/41 Report of County Councillor
21/41.1 Councillor Parry had no formal update.
21.41.2 Outstanding Matters – Highways Matters
21.41.2.1 Councillor Hudson summarised the concerns of the Parish Council in regard to road safety along the A51. The detail of this discussion is summarised and appended to the Minutes of the meeting.
RESOLVED: It was agreed to write to Chief Inspector Giles Parsons and the County Commissioner for Highways and Transport, James Bailey, on this matter. Copies of correspondence to be sent to Bill Cash MP.
21.41.2.2 Burston Grid
The matter remained unresolved.
RESOLVED: Councillor Parry to check progress with County Highways. 21.41.2.3 Flooding outside Dog and Doublet. The matter remained unresolved.

21.41.2.4 Verges – Burston Lane.
Councillor Parry suggested that small posts be put in place along Burston Lane to deter traffic from damaging the verges.
21.41.2.5 Gateways
The Clerk reported that quotes for the supply and installation of gate ways were still being received. Councillor Parry supported this initiative.
RESOLVED: To consider this at the next meeting.

21/42 Report of Borough Councillor
21.42.1 Councillor Harp referred to constraints under which the Planning Department were working.
21/43 Planning

21/44 Financial Statement and Bank Account Reconciliation Statement
21.44.1 Financial Statement presented by Clerk. Bank Reconciliation checked.
RESOLVED: The Clerk requested that consideration be given to the projected underspend. To give this matter higher priority on the agenda for the next meeting.
21.44.2 Clerk’s Quarterly Salary Gross £716.76 Net £645.74 and PAYE to HMRC £143.20. Checked by Chairman. LGA 1972 s 112(2)
RESOLVED: To pay the Clerk’s quarterly salary and the PAYE to HMRC.
21.44.3 Bank Mandate Change. Clerk reported that she had checked with NatWest that Councillor Capjon’s name had been added to the mandate.
21.44.4 The Clerk stated that an invoice had been received from Staffordshire County Council for payment of the provision of on year’s advice and training in respect data protection – £165. (To be clarified – quote stated £160).
