Hot Weather Safety Advice

Dear Residents
We have received the following from Staffordshire Police
With the warm weather continuing, please keep the following safety tips in mind:
๐ Home Security
- Do not leave doors or windows open when you are out โ warmer weather often brings an increase in opportunistic burglaries.
๐ต Community Care
- Please check on elderly or vulnerable neighbours to make sure they are safe and coping in the heat.
๐ถ Pets
- Never leave dogs (or any animals) in cars, even for a short time โ temperatures rise dangerously fast. Do not walk dogs if the pavements are hot, test the ground with your hand, if it is too hot for your hand, it is too hot for their paws.
๐ Water Safety
- Avoid swimming in open water such as lakes, canals, or rivers unless it is a supervised, designated area.
๐ฅ Fire Safety
- Please do not have BBQs in wooded areas or near dry vegetation โ there is an increased risk of fires in hot conditions.
๐ Reporting Concerns
- If you need to report a non-emergency, please callย 101.
- Alternatively, you can contactย Crimestoppers UK anonymously on 0800 555 111.
Stay safe and look out for one another. And enjoy the nice weather safely
