Footpath 36 - Bridge installation - starts Monday 13th July 2026

Dear Residents
Staffordshire County Council has provided the following letter regarding the installation of the new footbridge on Footpath 36 – Two Saints Way.
Date: 9 July 2026
Re: Burston Bridge Installation
I’m pleased to share with you that work will begin to install the new footbridge on the Sandon and Burston Footpath 36 next week.
Our engineers have been closely monitoring the site and their latest inspections confirmed that the ground has now sufficiently dried out so that work can safely proceed.
The installation process will begin on Monday 13 July 2026 and work is expected to take around six weeks, subject to weather conditions.
The programme of works is planned as follows:
• Weeks 1 & 2: Engineers will excavate the site and build new foundations for the bridge.
• Weeks 3 & 4: Crews will build a temporary access road for the equipment needed to lift the bridge into place. The new bridge will also be assembled in sections while the new foundations cure.
• Weeks 5 & 6: A crane will lift sections of the bridge into place and engineers will complete final tie-in works and landscaping around the site.
