19/089.1 A51 Traffic Issues through Sandon including the Burston junctions.
19/089.1.1 Issues raised that are currently being pursued by County Highways.

19/089.1.2 Councillor Parry update Council on the following issues :-
19/089.1.2.1 Stafford Road Canal Bridge priority system. No realistic solution to overcome the
possibility of drivers taking a chance to beat the oncoming traffic.
19/089.1.2.2 A51 Burston Junctions. Possibility of illuminated signs either side of the junction.
Solar powered signs nominally £3,000 each including installation.
Safe Road Partnership a possible source of funding in the future.
County Highways cannot justify installation of signs and would not provide any funds.
19/089.1.2.3 Dog & Doublet Road Junction. Enhanced line marking and additional signage agreed,
now waiting for the availability of a Line Marking Machine.
19/089.1.2.4 Railway Bridge fence. Stone office progressing the repair with Network Rail
19/089.1.2.5 Drain in Burston. Work scheduled for this Winter.
19/089.2 Footpath 36 -Burston Pool to the Canal Bridge.
Resolved to install the metal self closing gate with hoops to form a Kissing Gate
19/089.3 Sandon Gateways. Waiting for proposals from Sandon Estate.
19/089.4 Clearing vegetation from the footpaths on the A51 and Hilderstone roads.
Encroachment of vegetation still requires clearing to maintain a usable footpath.
19/089.4.1 Community Payback team considering clearing vegetation on Stocks Lane.
19/089.5 Road Signs obscured by hedges and those requiring a clean.
Encroachment of vegetation on to the pathway.
19/089.5.1 Waiting for hedge cutting to be completed then assess the problem.
19/089.6 Defibrillator for Burston.
Further advice and information being sought. (Mr Rundle & Mrs Hughes) Agenda item.
19/089.7 Grit Box for Burston Lane at the Railway Bridge.
Resolved to purchase a Grit Box and site as suggested by County Highways.

19/092.1 Councillor Parry updated Council on the current issues raised with Highways,

19/093.1 Burston Pool. Renewal of Fishing Lease.
Post meeting note Simon Hartley Fishing Club have now signed the new lease
covering fishing rights on the Pool
19/093.2 Mrs Hughes questioned Councillor Harp regarding the legitimacy of fishing from
the bank in front of Mill Pool Cottage, 10 Poolside and 11 Poolside.
On a recent occasion two fishermen were fishing from the bench seats, it was not
known whether or not they were members of the Fishing Club.
They were reportedly intimidating and abusive to Mrs Hughes and her children.
19/093.2.1 Council understood that there were two fishing stations between the Pool outlet and
Mill Pool Cottage.
19/093.2.2 Council determined that abusive and intimidating behaviour to residents or visitors
was not acceptable from those fishing the Pool and Stafford Borough should be
made aware of the incident.

19/094.1 Shopper Bus to Stafford. Future dates arranged.

19/094.2 On behalf of Burston residents. Concern about the durability of the recent work
to improve the surface of Burston Car Park.

a treatment of five ton of compacted planings.

Mr Rundle The brook from Burston Pool to the Canal Culvert
Concern regarding the raised bed of the brook with gravel being washed down in the recent heavy rain.
The raised bed increasing the potential of flooding of the four cottage on the Old Mill site.
The brook bed has been cleared in the past but it was not known which organisation is responsible,
Canal & Rivers Trust / Environmental Agency / Severn Trent / County Council / Landowner or some other.
