19/065.1 A51 Traffic Issues through Sandon including the Burston junctions.
19/065.1.1 Report of meeting with County Highways and Councillor Parry on 12th July.
Issues raised :- A51 40MPH extension through the Burston junctions,
Dog & Doublet junction, Canal Bridge priority system, A51 dual carriageway at
the point where it is channelled into a single lane, the drain in Burston at the first
triangle, the fence at the Railway Bridge on the B5066 and the status of the road
which is a continuation of Woodcock Lane up to the railway crossing (classified on
the Ordnance Map as a BOAT.
19/065.1.1.2 A51 40MPH extension does not satisfy Highways criteria. Slow signs to be considered.
19/065.1.1.3 Dog and Doublet junction. Road marking improvements in hand.
19/065.1.1.4 Canal Bridge priority system. Satisfies Highway requirements.
19/065.1.1.5 A51 Dual Carriageway. Road markings satisfy Highway standards.
19/065.1.1.6 Drain in Burston. Problem to be investigated.
19/065.1.1.7 Railway Bridge fence. Highways to pursue Network Rail.
19/065.1.1.8 Woodcock Lane. No possibility of Highways improving the old road surface.
19/065.2 Footpath 36 -Burston Pool to the Canal Bridge.
Gate fastening system still to be completed and problems continue with cattle.
19/065.2.1 Resolved by a majority vote to proceed with a closing system and not to
install a Kissing Gate.
19/065.3 Sandon Gateways. Waiting for proposals from Sandon Estate.
19/065.4 Clearing vegetation from the footpaths on the A51 and Hilderstone roads.
Involvement of a Community Payback team. Waiting for a Project Coordinator to
assess the risk of working alongside the A51.
19/065.4.1 Community Payback team declined to work on the A51 but would work on Stocks Lane.
19/065.5 Road Signs obscured by hedges and those requiring a clean.
Encroachment of vegetation on to the pathway.
19/065.5.1 Hedge cutting season approaching, mainly associated with Estate land.
19/065.5.2 Any work undertaken by Parish Council volunteers would need to comply with
our insurers requirements.
Hazard identification followed by a Risk Assessment necessary.

19/069.1 Burston Pool. Renewal of Fishing Lease and the drafting of a revised leasing agreement.
Councillor Harp to continue checking on the terms included in the new Fishing Lease,
so that issues raised by Burston residents and the Parish Council are addressed.
19/069.1.1 Other issues raised at the meeting – Car Parking and the situation regarding the “toilet”

Following on information through Grant Sources related to Electric Vehicle Charging
Points in Residential Streets.
Consideration should be given to installing a Charging Point at Burston Car Park.

19/070.2 Councillor Charlton. Thanking Councillor Capjon for the tour around Burston.
Very useful in gaining first hand knowledge of this part of the Parish.
Reciprocal tour of other areas of the Parish to be arranged.
