Footpath 36 - Bridge Replacement - Update

Dear Residents
Staffordshire County Council has provided the following update:
As promised, I’m writing to share a further update with you on the progress of the Burston footbridge installation on the Sandon and Burston Footpath 36.
I’m pleased to share that the new bridge has now been lifted into position.
Our engineers will now spend the next couple of weeks installing steps and handrails and removing the temporary access road that was created to transport the heavy equipment needed to move the bridge into position.
Once that is done, crews will make good the ground around the area.
Everything remains on track to reopen the footpath before theĀ end of this month, providing that the weather continues to be on our side.
Last month, we had to take additional measures to secure the area due to members of the public trying to enter the construction site to get a closer look at the bridge.
We would be grateful if you can continue to support and share our messages to please respect the path closures in place, which are there to protect everyone.
Like the community, we want nothing more than to reopen the footpath as soon as possible, which we can only do if everyone keeps a safe distance and allows our engineers to focus on the job.
Thank you so much for your continued patience throughout this project.
We are very close to completion now, and I will share a further update in two weeks.
Kind regards
Cllr Hayley Coles
Deputy Leader – Staffordshire County Council.
